The Legend
Once known as the “people's tea,” genmaicha was born of thrift and warmth. Families stretched their precious leaf by blending it with toasted brown rice left over from the hearth — the grains popping like tiny lanterns in the roasting pan.
What began as making-do became a treasure of its own: a nutty, golden, faintly popcorn-sweet cup that fills a room with the smell of toasted rice. We dust ours with matcha for a deeper green heart. Humble origins, generous soul.
